The Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL) is a certification required for anybody who wants to buy a handgun. It guarantees that the person has received the requisite training to handle and possess handguns securely.

Individuals seeking to earn a Maryland Handgun Qualification License must first complete a state-approved firearms training course that covers many areas of handgun safety, operation, and firearm ownership and use laws. This training covers hands-on practice in areas such as handgun handling, shooting principles, and proper storage techniques.

After completing the training, applicants can submit their certification and other relevant papers to the Maryland State Police for processing. Upon approval, they will obtain their Maryland Handgun Qualification License, which will allow them to possess and buy handguns lawfully.

• – Day 1: 8 am-5 pm

At MSP Firearms Training, we believe in inclusivity. You don’t need to own a firearm, holster, or ammunition to enroll in our courses. However, if you do have your handgun, feel free to bring it along! Our training is accessible to all, regardless of prior experience or equipment ownership.

Upon successful completion of our training program, you’ll walk away with certifications. Additionally, our One Stop Shop package covers fingerprinting for Maryland, Virginia, Arizona, and Utah, along with passport-style photos for Maryland, Virginia, Arizona, Florida, and Utah applications. Please note that application fees are not included in the pricing.
